We need a new Melling Interchange NOW!

The Melling Interchange is a major choke point on SH2, particularly at peak times. It is also a safety and crash risk. We need a new and upgraded grade-separated interchange (like at the Dowse and Haywards), and a new bridge across the river. A new interchange is also vital for the delivery of the Riverlink project for the Hutt.

The government has announced that a new Melling Interchange will only be considered from 2029! There’s not even any money to do any work before then. This is a massive slap in the face for the Hutt Valley.

We need a new and upgraded interchange ASAP. The previous National-led government committed to fast-tracking this vital project, now the government needs to commit as well.
