Wainuiomata deserves a direct bus service to Wellington

Wainuiomata is set to lose its only direct bus service to Wellington - the number 80.

This bus service isn't even operated by Metlink (the Regional Council), but is run by a private provider - without any subsidy.

Wainuiomata deserves better. How can a growing suburb of 20,000 like Wainuiomata not have a direct public and subsidised bus service to Wellington?

In comparison, Eastbourne is a suburb of 3,000 and has many direct buses to Wellington in the morning and evenings. Johnsonville is the same - half the size but over hundreds of direct buses to Wellington each week.

It’s time for the Greater Wellington Regional Council and Metlink to step up for Wainuiomata residents and ratepayers.

Sign this petition to tell the Regional Council and Metlink to add direct Wainuiomata-Wellington buses to the Metlink network.
